1. antaeus is a merman (they're called avisa in my original universe), and he can shapeshift into a humanoid form as well as in-between, though the in-between form takes a lot of concentration to hold. he's also the youngest of his race.
2. all avisa are capable of minor water manipulation, but antaeus absolutely sucked at it for the first two hundred years of his life. it was a huge accomplishment when he was finally able to conjure a small sphere of water--took him even longer to learn how to make it freeze. now he can create ice slicks and shields with but a thought. however, he's still trying to figure out how to heat water warmer than room temperature. considering he's 3300 years old and still hasn't gotten it...
3. like all avisa, antaeus has an exquisite singing voice (he's a tenor). he and his sisters are called sirens for a reason. though thankfully there's no seductive or hypnotic magic woven into their voices--avisa aren't capable of magic, and even if they were, magic in my original universe can't be used in that way.
4. antaeus is deathly afraid of flying. he will avoid air travel like the plague; the closer to the ground and thus to water, the better. if he has no choice but to fly, he requires xanax and noise cancelling headphones.
5. antaeus is an abysmal cook. shame really, since he loves to eat. he can put away a ridiculous amount of food. if he wasn't so fastidious about keeping in shape, he'd be pretty chubby. xD so because he can't cook worth a damn, he tends toward easy prep foods: raw fruits and vegetables, cold cut sandwiches, and the like. his favorite foods are tomatoes, cucumbers, melons, and bacon. good lord does he love bacon. and also jael's cooking mmm.
6. he didn't always have such a ripped bod! for the first 1300 years of his life, antaeus was a dancer (fit, but not nearly so cut as in these drawings). it wasn't until after he became a warrior that he really bulked up.
7. he doesn't use contractions in his speech or writing, and he has a precise, articulate way of speaking. because of this he can come across old-fashioned. at least, one might think that until they hear him swearing. he has a foul mouth.
8. antaeus loves children and could spend all day playing with them. his favorite thing to do is soothe and sing to babies. he's an excellent father to his own five children.

i've rediscovered a crap ton of awesome photos i've taken through the years with my DSLR, so you'll start seeing a lot more photography from me! and it might kick me into gear to take more photos and maybe learn how to make them look more professional.

I love that he sucks at the water thing. Sometimes, it seems like in magical worlds too many people are just good at it. I am now picturing him trying and failing to make a cup of tea for the hundred thousandth time.
